Eyes of Animals

See what they see.

Your camera, through the eyes of a dog, cat, horse, bee and eagle.

A meadow split down the middle: red flowers in green grass on the left, the same field in dull olive yellow on the right.
Illustration: your eyes on the left, a dog's on the right.

Pick an animal. Swap eyes.

Point your phone at anything. The whole picture becomes the animal's view, with your own view in a small box below. Take photos and videos through its eyes, and keep them on your phone.

Dog
Red and green look alike, and fine detail goes soft.
Cat
Softer still, with fewer colours than you see.
Horse
Sees about 350° around. The app shows how much of that you miss.
Bee
A mosaic standing for its facets, with no receptor tuned to red.
Eagle
More than twice as sharp as you, so far things come closer.
And more
17 animals in the camera and research cards on 50, from dolphins with no colour to spiders with one tiny sharp spot.

What it won't pretend.

A phone camera can't see ultraviolet or heat, and it can't film 350°. Every animal's page says what its picture can't show and links to the research behind the numbers. It's an approximation, and it tells you where.
